Sexy Ham

I was doing some screening in the corpus (marking sampled emails as ham or spam) and stumbled across ham that I HAD TO READ! It was an email about 10 replies in on a conversation this morning between a Master and his BabyGirl. The subject and the first line I saw made me think it was one of those lonely Russian women spam. Nope, two horny adults in the South that will be doing some rather kinky things in Nashville next week. DAMN, it made me horny!

Anyone have any suggestions on the best program to archive/backup my LJ entries? I tried LJArchive a couple of months ago, kept getting errors, and gave up on it. Any LJArchive tips or other programs of choice?

Worst case scenario, I'm just going to print out entries of strong interest and keep them in my memorabilia file cabinet at home.

Okay, I finally tried out the camcorder function on my digital camera today. I was very pleased with the results, but it would be nice to be able slice and dice this stuff. I do have a program that Canon included in its software bundle, but am open to whatever is 1) free and 2) user friendly for beginners. I will, no doubt, get to a point where I'll be doing all sorts of audio and video mixing, but don't feel a need to jump into the deep end immediately.

Any suggestions?

Is it just me or does the 17 year old that hacked the iPhone look a lot like the lead singer for The Dead Milkmen?

I can't recall who gave it to me, but someone passed along a teeny-tiny Lexar USB drive to me a few months ago.

Ah...

I know it's only 512MB, but that's enough for a few documents and a slate of music to keep me entertained for a few weeks. It has been serving the purpose of easily transferring files between my two laptops while working at the office (Linux on one and Winders on the other). Last Friday evening I must have been so exhausted that I didn't empty out my shirt pocket that was holding the drive. I searched my clothes the following day when I didn't see it with my office materials but couldn't find it.

Found it last night...at the bottom of my washing machine. Popped it into the USB and everything was fine. Kudos to Lexar for such a durable computer accessory!!!

I'm finally moving into the 21st century and intend to start tracking my finances on my computer. Mostly it's for the sake of dealing with JD's and my businesses. We don't have employees, so we are really only tracking income and (mostly JD's) business expenses.

So...Quickbooks vs. Quicken?

For the non-accountant looking to plug income and expenses for two small tiny businesses and our home, which is the best option? I'm starting to read up on the two but always appreciate real world feedback instead of the questionable "user reviews" that are found online.

Minor caveat: it would rawk if you have any Linux options that JD can download for her computer so she can mind her own business...so to speak.

My computer used to be the center of my home studio. I had a DAT, MD, a Tivo, and a Replay connected to it (along with being able to sample audio from the computer's CD and DVD capabilities). I would use Cool Edit Pro and Nuendo to prepare audio for the show.

But I never took advantage of my computer's video capabilities.

I've had a coax jack on my video card for years now, but only connected it to my cable yesterday during my computer cleaning/reorganization. Before I reinstall the ATI Multimedia Center 7.5 that came with the card (but hasn't been on the computer, at least, since I installed WinXP), I thought I'd see if any of y'all had any preferences/recommendations for this new capability I want to explore. My primary interest is in recording, slightly editing, and then converting to a DVD or video file (wmv, mov, whatever) to archive stuff on VHS and make copies of JD's videos for her classes. I have Tivos, so I have no interest in using my computer in a similar manner.

I also know that it is just a matter of time before JD and I get a camcorder of some sort for Xmas. (My fil has a habit of buying us technology each year and now that he's assisted in my creation of a home studio, Tivos for nearly every TV, a portable DVD player, and other digital gadgets.) One day I'll want that capability, but it's not something I'll use much for the next year or so.

TIA
