TV on Computer
Feb. 1st, 2007 12:29 pmMy computer used to be the center of my home studio. I had a DAT, MD, a Tivo, and a Replay connected to it (along with being able to sample audio from the computer's CD and DVD capabilities). I would use Cool Edit Pro and Nuendo to prepare audio for the show.
But I never took advantage of my computer's video capabilities.
I've had a coax jack on my video card for years now, but only connected it to my cable yesterday during my computer cleaning/reorganization. Before I reinstall the ATI Multimedia Center 7.5 that came with the card (but hasn't been on the computer, at least, since I installed WinXP), I thought I'd see if any of y'all had any preferences/recommendations for this new capability I want to explore. My primary interest is in recording, slightly editing, and then converting to a DVD or video file (wmv, mov, whatever) to archive stuff on VHS and make copies of JD's videos for her classes. I have Tivos, so I have no interest in using my computer in a similar manner.
I also know that it is just a matter of time before JD and I get a camcorder of some sort for Xmas. (My fil has a habit of buying us technology each year and now that he's assisted in my creation of a home studio, Tivos for nearly every TV, a portable DVD player, and other digital gadgets.) One day I'll want that capability, but it's not something I'll use much for the next year or so.
TIA
