Isaiah wasn't a wishy-washy guy at all. Everything I read in the book had him either waxing glorious tales of how God has/will bless the Jewish people or him screaming in frustration and anger about the horrible things the people have/will do and how God has/will punish them for those failings. There is tons of imagery used by him and that really slowed me down when going through this book. It was one thing to not get the details of the Law in Leviticus or skimming over the census lists in Numbers, but the prophetic dreams and metaphors in Isaiah invited closer reading and pauses to think over what I had just read. I fell a few days behind because of my desire and need to slow down to better digest what I had read.

Thank goodness I took my Bible with me to the DMV this morning! I had fallen a couple of days behind on my Bible in 90 Days challenge. While I disliked the long wait, I was able to get through half of the book while I was there and had a chunk of office work that allowed me to listen attentively to the other half of the book this afternoon. Phew! Now I'm caught up with the schedule.

Jeremiah was a lot easier for me because of the decrease of symbolism used. Jeremiah's visions and prophesies were much more straight forward compared to Isaiah. While the wonky chronology of the book sidetracked me a few times, the clarity of his message to Judah before the exile in Babylon and his messages to those in exile didn't require that I decipher the message from the imagery.

I ended up renewing my license today. I had swung by the DMV a few times since my birthday last month only for there to be no parking spaces available or a crammed waiting room. After a few attempts like that, I made note that the office opened at 7am.

This morning, I was up early (for me) and decided to rush downtown. I arrived at the DMV at 7:35am, was given #24, and was told they'll start calling numbers at 8am. *sigh* At 8:10ish, they called out numbers 12-21. About an hour later, they called out 22-30. I got lucky and 22 and 23 were missing. Thanks to that, I had to wait for only a few minute in the line of chairs immediately next to the booths for pictures and such.

Lessons Learned:
1. No matter the time of day, the DMV believes its #1 priority is to ensure everyone waits.
2. Going in before 8am won't cut your wait time much, but you won't be crammed in the waiting area unless you want a seat right in front of the TV. I was never sandwiched between two of my fellow citizens (something I could never claim during my previous visits around lunch and later in the afternoon).
3. Despite all of the signs telling folks not to use cell phones. There is no enforcement of it whatsoever, so don't worry much about finding something to kill time with...unless you are worried your smartphone battery will run out during the 90 minutes or more you'll be there.
