Computer Down

My computer started shutting down a couple of months ago. The case would feel hot, so I checked the fans and found the front one (of the 6 in the case) wasn't working. I replace it, but a couple of days later the computer shuts down again. I remove one side of the case to help the ventilation (It's under my desk in a corner). That works until this past week. After it shut down on me three times yesterday, I decided to call in the troops and the fil came over to help me fix it.

While replacing the power supply (which is about 6 years old), he noticed that the heatsink for the CPU was loose. We plug everything in, press the power button, a fan shutters for a millisecond, but nothing else happens. Great, the motherboard aborted start up.

It was time for Nigel to hit the sack, so my fil kidnapped my case and took it home to replace parts until it works again.

*sigh*

Now I have to go for a day or two *knocks on wood* without porn! My laptop's video capability just can't do porn justice. All video looks like a slide show.

*sigh* *giggles*

Thankfully, the files for the client I'm meeting with tomorrow are on my thumbdrive and not one of the harddrives of the computer.

Same thing happened to my computer a few months ago. I buried it.

Things are looking more dire this morning. My fil told me this morning that he's replaced nearly everything in the case and it STILL won't start up.

Mac for sale anyone?

Yeah man - buy a Mac! I just got a new MacBook, and it's spiffy.

A client loaned me their Mac laptop this week. I have been more than pleased with how it works. Just the lack of wait for it to boot up and shut down make me want to switch.

However, I learned this evening that the fil decided that he needed to buy new CPUs and motherboards and my troubles cemented the need in his mind. I've gotta go full time so I can make the segue to Mac on my own and break this PC addiction from my fil enabler. ;)
