People who come to my memorial service will receive "Cory's Life in a Box." Which will have some photos, but it's mostly a box-set of the soundtrack of my life. The CDs will include:
1. Soundtrack made for the memorial
2. Soundtrack from Wedding Reception (all 4 hours' worth)
3. CD made for 5th Wedding Anniversary (and subsequent anniversary soundtracks)
4. My last broadcast at V-91 (Bama's student run station)
5. Collection of RoadKill stunts I did while in talk radio
6. A CD I am creating titled "Soundtrack of Cory's Life" which will hit the songs that are eternally tied into my life ("Blister in the Sun" by the Violent Femmes is the best example - hearing that song my soph year in high school changed my whole perception of music/pop music). The "SofCL" will have liner notes explaining each song's insertion in the CD.

I plan on being cremated. Would a pinch of my ashes in each box be too creepy?

No really...

Dude! What a great idea! But ... wedding soundtrack? 4 Hours? The Ashes thing I can get behind, but ... man, 4 hours. Sheesh. Maybe a Little extreme. Was it a Catholic Wedding?

Wedding RECEPTION soundtrack...not wedding soundtrack.

Our wedding was probably about 5-7 minutes long...IF it was even 5 minutes long.

I didn't want to hire a DJ (too many cheesy ones out there) or a band (let's remember I was in Nashville at this time...I could have auditioned bands for 3 years). I talked over songs with JD and recorded 4 hours of music onto DAT in long play. I timed out and inserted musical cues when we would cut the cake (Cake - "Stickshifts and Safety Belts"), when we'd leave (Etta James "At Last" followed by some downtempo songs that we didn't care if anyone heard), and then put in a personal message thanking the in-laws and telling everyone to dance (which launched right into ABBA's "Take a Chance on Me" and about an hour or so worth of disco/techno/dance music).

I'll copy/paste the playlist sometime this evening after getting home.

Besides, each of these items will be on different discs. If/when you come to my memorial and get the box, you won't be forced to ever listen to the CDs/AudioDVDs/whatever you don't want to hear.

AH, OK. That makes more sense. Reception music.

Sounds like a great idea, but I can't say I'm looking forward to getting it.

Okay, the ashes part is a little oogy, Cory. However, the rest of your idea sounds wonderful. What a celebration of your life it will be!

I had imagined the box being a tombstone since I wasn't going to have one sitting in a cemetery someplace. Maybe I can still buy a tombstone, break off little bits of it, and put that in the box instead of my ashes! ;)

the ashes is a cool idea.

i want to be cremated or, if i could get legal permission, a green burial.

there is something very calming about my corpse being plant food.
