I don't know how I managed to spend all day working. It was the usual stuff that I do on Sundays, but it just seemed to take a lot longer. Well, maybe it's just the day, because even when I was done with work the time just seemed to fly by.

Spent a few hours yesterday with JD riding around town on the light-rail here in town. Our original plan was to take it down to the zoo and walk around there for a break from exploring on the train. However, it was constantly raining yesterday. It wasn't bad, but it was just nonstop. We got off at the zoo, walked over to the zoo entrance and considering that we were soaked by this point, paying $14 to walk around the zoo and possibly not see animals just didn't make much sense to us. It was nice to ride around and see S. Dallas considering we never get down to that side of town (nothing racial - hell we rarely get out of the 10 sq mile area around our house). The view of downtown as we crossed back over the Trinity River on the way back was gorgeous. The clouds were starting to part and the late afternoon sun caused a beautiful reflection off of the skyscrapers.
OH...speaking of skyscrapers... I must admit an addiction to Sim City. I'm so much so that I visit a British based website that ponders what might be in the next edition (SC4000). While scanning thru the new posts on the forum, I read about www.skyscrapes.com and HAD to take a look. Call it phallus worship, but I've always enjoyed studying/admiring large structures. I spent too long on that site on Friday looking at the pictures and actually spent a good deal of my time looking at the buildings here in Dallas (including those that were proposed and not built). Like it or not (probably just tolerated it), JD got to hear me list off data and other info I gleaned about the buildings in Dallas as we took the train thru downtown on the street level. I'd point and say stuff like..."Oh, the Bank of America building was the 6th largest skyscraper at the time that it was built in 1985. It was supposed to be part of twin buildings, but the excess office space resulting from the building boom in town at that time made making another of that size unprofitable." "See the Renaissance Tower? It was built in 1974 and was prominently featured in the TV show 'Dallas.' The decorative structure at the top of the building was added on in 1986 to add height and secure the building's placement as one of the tallest buildings in town during the building boom of the 80's." Yes, I can be a pure delight at times like that. Yes, I think I am destined to be some sort of tour guide when I "retire." I just gotta move someplace where I would want to do that...hmmmm I bet our kids wouldn't mind visiting us in Amsterdam. ;)

Wow, I look down at the clock and time has flown again...UGH, I've got to get to bed!!!

ha!
