332 - The Beatles - Help!
Nov. 21st, 2011 02:12 pmThere aren't any big surprises with Help!. It is basically the last of the pop song collection period of The Beatles' discography. After this would come Rubber Soul and their other albums that were more than a collection of singles and ephemera. There are some excellent songs ("You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," "Yesterday") and some filler ("Another Girl," "You Like Me Too Much"). Part of me feels that maybe the album wouldn't seem quite so disjointed if the track listing was adjusted (the somber "Yesterday" immediately before the rockin' "Dizzy Miss Lizzy?").
Songs I knew I liked: "Help!," "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," "Ticket to Ride," "Act Naturally," and "Yesterday"
Songs I didn't know but now like: "The Night Before"
Songs I can go the rest of my life without hearing again: "Another Girl," "You Like Me Too Much," and "Tell Me What You See"
