Oh, no! I just read about a new batch of cicada emerging in May.

Great, now I get to be paranoid all month long while these damned things pop out of the ground like the living dead, fly around (I'm really creeped out by flying bugs, just ask [livejournal.com profile] bluevinylangel about me and those footlong, flying roaches in GA), and then all other sounds of nature and man will be drowned out by their constant chirping!

For those of you that haven't experienced it, be grateful.

UGH

I would lose it. We have millions and millions of caterpillars dropping from trees on their silk things all over the place, but at least they don't fly. I'd flip if they fly. This is bad enough. I don't have them at my house, but my best friends yard looks like something out of a scary movie. THey are cute, but not so cute landing all over and crawling around,..they squish when you try to flick them away... I'll just keep reminding us, at least they don't fly...

The only "cool" thing about cicadas are their empty molted shells everywhere at the end of the cycle. As a kid, it's the bee's knees to play with those.
