Psalms: Quick Summary

I've read narrative stories so far in the Bible. I've come across lists of rules, lists of instructions, and lists of census numbers. Psalms is a collection of 150 songs/poems. Many are traditionally credited to King David. The psalms praise God, beg for mercy, demand justice, ask for guidance, and proclaim Israel's faith to God and God to them.
