Turnip Greens

I'm a good Southern boy and will eat turnip greens when they are prepared. Sometimes I really like them and sometimes I just focus on the taste of the pepper sauce I poured on them. JD made a batch of greens the other night that were so good that I'm actually eating the leftovers today. MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm...

Am I the only Southerner who hates turnip greens and collards? 'cause I do. I hate them. I only like cooked spinach, and obviously it must be lavishly bathed in Louisiana hot sauce.

I HATE collards. I would liken my affection to turnip greens as a Minnesotan has affection for lutefisk. It is actually the pepper sauce that I like and it pairs nicely enough with turnip greens that I can have a small serving.

I will, however, enjoy a plate of spinach (from frozen). Add a squirt of lemon juice and I'll devour it.

I'm an expatriate Southerner, and the only turnip greens I could ever stomach were my grandmother's. Sadly, she took her recipe to the grave with her. I think it had something to do with the white meat (fat back) and the homemade pepper sauce. On the other hand, if collards and rutabagas went extinct tomorrow I wouldn't miss them.
