First off I have to mention that I'm typing up this entry on one of my Christmas presents....while lying on the floor! My in-laws got me a cordless keyboard and mouse. Our "computer desk" is a table that leaves little room for the keyboard and mouse to sit and my right wrist kills after sitting at the computer for several hours (hey, I do work on here, too!). Having the flexibility to move to the La-Z-Boy or chair and a half to do some work is much better.

Tour Summary
As the week progressed, Calvin greatly increased in his ability and willingness to bond w/ others. He's always taken a little while to warm up to people. Namely several visits in a short period. By Xmas Day he was comfortable with family/friends after just a couple of hours ...and sometimes less! Needless to say, everybody was all googly over him and put him thru a thorough spoiling. It was very funny to watch as he learned about presents. At the beginning of the week he was hesitant and seemed happy afterwards. As each day passed, he became more and more excited when placed in a present-opening situation. I kinda expect for him to get depressed in a day or so when he has gone for a while w/o getting to open any more presents. :) Although it was a bit busy, I don't think I feel that we were ricocheting around the state as much as we have the past few years. Part of that was not getting together w/ our college friends and having a better flow rather than having to go to B'ham 3 or 4 times w/ other locations in between. I'm still going to be a super slug tomorrow now that our holiday schedule is now over.

Found out that my only cousin on my dad's side is expecting. Josh and Mary are expecting in July and JD's chomping at the bit to have more to talk to Mary about since it seems that she is interested in natural childbirth.
***TANGENT*** JD got a lovely pelvis model along w/ a baby doll, umbilical cord, placenta, and a lovely embryonic sack that they go into for her birthing classes. There were also a nice collection of videos and posters she received to help out for teaching.
***Okay, back to the summary***
Thankfully the kid cousins on my mom's side had mercy on Calvin and didn't spend the whole time pulling him along or bossing him. JD's parents got to drive down to B'ham w/ Calvin and my parents got to drive him back up at the end of the week so both sets of g'parents got a kick out of spending that time with him since he's gotten much better at traveling the couple of hours.

The Xmas Booty
*(as already mentioned)Cordless keyboard and mouse
*Alice and Annie Hall DVDs
*Futurama Vol. 1 and 2
*John Coltrane, Henry Rollins spoken word, Seal IV and Coldplay CDs
*lots of clothes that I actually wanted and will wear
*DVD+-RW/+-R/CD drive
*LCD monitor
*a great book w/ maps of Wash D.C. from the 1600's to the present
*topographical and road atlases of TN and GA (have I ever mentioned that I LOVE maps and actually "read" maps like anyone would sit down to read a novel)
*Best Buy gift cards
*autographed copy of Garrison Keillor's latest novel
*Larry Elder's "The 10 Things You Can't Say in America"
I can't complain at all this year. I got more than I feel that I deserve... though I didn't get a SINGLE MST3K thing this year. Okay, I'm a bit disappointed about that but that is where the Best Buy gift card comes in (if only there was a Best Brains gift card). ;)
