Of all time...probably... "Let's Go Crazy" by Prince or "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears for Fears

Of the past few months... "Skeleton Boy" by Friendly Fires

Top of the Charts

Prince . . . yes, but material from "Sign O the Times" was much better, if you're limiting the choice to the 80s discography. "Around the World in a Day"? Well, after riffing James Brown and Jimi Hendrix, I guess it was the Beatles' turn! Although the song "America" was a perfect commentary on the Reagan era. For the 90s, "The Gold Experience" was hit-and-miss, and "Crystal Ball" sounded like he was just cleaning out a desk at Paisley Park. For the 2000s, "Musicology" felt like he was getting back to his 70s roots, but unfortunately was a musical red herring. Waiting for his latest.

In case I haven't mentioned it before . . . a few years ago while visiting in-laws in Minneapolis I made what I considered a pilgrimage to 1st Avenue and 7th Street Entry and left a "Purple Rain" keychain on the door handle. Lynn thought I had lost my mind. No matter; he thought the same thing when I left a rainbow-disco-ball keychain on the door handle at the former site of Studio 54.
