I'd love to live the life of the Jeffersons in an apartment in the sky. Alas, with a wife with a greenthumb and housing choices of Huntsville, I'm just grateful not to have an acre lot in the county that needs taming.
Lynn and I were finally able to see Steely Dan at the Wang Center in BOS 7/25! It was Internet Request night and ticketholders voted online which songs from the Aja, Gaucho and The Royal Scam albums would be performed. SD played most of their hits except Deacon Blues, much to my disappointment. Donald Fagen probably would have performed it if they had been in Birmingham, since they opened the show here with Hey Nineteen, ostensibly due to the "sweet things from Boston" reference. Overall, a great show that took me back to junior-high/high-school-pre-Germany-II-move years. I actually felt that young at the show, too: there was such a sea of gray hair, I thought for a second that we had bought tickets to a Lawrence Welk concert. That was easy to do since I ignored my own sparkly strands. I just consider it nature's disco color.
JD's oldest brother saw Steely Dan recently in NC. I've consumed so many bootlegs over the past 5 years or so since rediscovering the band that I'm not all that jealous that I haven't been to a concert yet. JD's so indifferent to them, I'd either go alone or would have to find another fan to join me.
