I first heard M83 a few months ago. That album is really good, though the overall sound doesn't change up and it's that epic fuzz sound all over. Still, it reminds me why shoegazer isn't exactly a bad thing.
I first heard M83's "Kim & Jessie" on MTV2's "Subterranean" late last summer, I guess. My parents gave me Saturdays = Youth for Christmas. At first, I ripped the songs off the CD and listened to the tracks shuffled in with the other new music. I tended to skip the songs because of how different they were from the rest of the music I had.
It wasn't until one evening that I put the CD on while playing on the Wii that I fell in love with it. There are only 3 songs I like listening to mixed in with other songs from my inventory, but I love the album listening experience. "Midnight Souls Still Remain" is a painfully repetitious 11 minute song on its own, but is perfect as the closer on the album.
