I'm having lunch today with [livejournal.com profile] chris21718 at Miso House. This morning, as I tend to do, I invited Calvin to join us to try the food. The boy has extremely finicky habits. Basically, if it isn't cheese and carbs (grilled cheese, cheese quesadilla, pasta and cheese), he avoids it. I had no expectation of Calvin saying yes to this lunch.

But he did.

I explained to Calvin what sushi was, that the menu won't have his usual fare, and that he may have to wait until he gets home to eat if he doesn't like the food there. "Can I take some fruit leather and crackers in case I don't like the food?" Sounded reasonable, so I decided to let him join us. I'm hoping we can order some ramen noodles (or similar) that he'll like. It would blow my mind if the boy actually tried some fish. After I mentioned the possibility of getting ramen noodles there, Calvin made the statement in this post's subject line.

I've never been to Miso House before, but have heard/read great things about the place. I must confess extreme naivety w/ Japanese cuisine other than what little bits I gleaned from Iron Chef. :)

Tonkatsu - breaded, fried pork cutlet, served with noodles and cabbage.

Katsudon - a cut up tonkatsu served over rice, topped with tonkatsu sauce (a sweet, slightly spicy sauce) and egg.
