Harper has been very bitchy lately. It built into a bigger and bigger mess. Daytime naps became 5-minute naps on JD. Nighttime was best spent tossing, turning, and crying. Come Thursday, Harper had the addition of a very runny nose and a 99-100 degree fever. That lasted for a couple of days. On Friday, I noticed a tiny little sharp pokey thing on the upper left side of her gums. On Saturday, the fever broke and JD found a matching pokey thing on the right side.

Harper took a 2 hour nap yesterday afternoon and another 2 hour nap today. Last night and tonight she passed out within just a few minutes of rocking. She's still waking up overnight, but not as frequently and easier to get back down. I hope we can coast on this better sleeping phase for a long time. JD's emotional stability was certainly wobbling from the lack of sleep and frustration.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

It always amazes me, reading about the things you be-childed people go through. Of course, every last one of you says it's absolutely worth it, and I'm inclined to believe you.

But... just wow.

I think we've come through this storm. The girl has been an absolute peach the past couple of days; so much more pleasant to be around.

If babies weren't made so damn cute, neither Calvin nor Harper would still be alive. Otherwise, the kids survive because parents convince themselves it is "just a phase" and, any day now, things will be fine.

"Damned babies are annoying, needy buggers. I can't wait until Timmy is old enough for us to play with Legos."

"Little brat contradicted everything I said, screamed at the top of his lungs when I told him I wouldn't buy X at the grocery store, and then kicked me HARD while I strapped him into the carseat. Gosh, I'll be so glad when the Terrible Twos are done."
