In 1992, Clinton won a three-way race for the presidency. He went to the White House with less than 50% of the popular vote because of the trio of contenders. I found myself in a world where folks had "Don't blame me, I voted for Bush" bumper stickers and Rush starts counting..."Day 34: America Held Hostage," etc. But after 4 years, the GOP can't muster a good enough candidate and the votes needed to unseat the "improper incumbent."

In 2000, ...well, we all know this well. Bush is also considered an illegitimate president because of Florida and the involvement of the Supreme Court. And, yet, after 4 years, the Dems can't muster a good enough candidate and the votes needed to unseat the "improper incumbent."

In 2008, I pray that WHOMEVER wins...it is a decisive win. It can be close, but I want a person to go into the White House with enough of a lead that most of the supporters of the loser go, "THAT SUCKS, but he won."

I completely agree. I am very, very tired of the "losing" sides' whining. Slap me if I do that, okay?

I hope so too. There's much less tendency for people to be so "divided" if one candidate is clearly more popular than the other. People have been more "divided" during the Bush administration than any I remember. Back in 2004, I got curious and posted all of the previous election results here so people could see how many elections were close and how many were quite one-sided, and most were one-sided rather than close.
