Thanks for implanting Cathy Dennis songs in my head! I am fighting nostalgic memories of trips to the "hip" clothing stores at the mall as a teenager now.
Oh, dude, this is the kind of music that was extremely popular during my "coming out of my shell" years. 1990-1992 is well-defined by these songs. I started going into the stores like Fine's, Jeans West, Merry Go Round, DJs, Attivo, Chess King, and Oak Tree and buying more colorful, interesting clothes, and the middle of that period in spring 1991 was my "coming out" time when I started revealing to friends that I liked guys. The music from that period was incredible to me, like a second more modern version of the disco period from the 1970s.
