Ask Cory's Kids

I've done a few "interviews" with the boys on the camcorder setting on the digital camera. I wanted to capture how they talk and their frame of mind at this point in time. These interviews are mostly small talk with a couple of "interesting" questions thrown in for the sake of seeing how the boys respond.

NOW MY QUESTION/REQUEST FOR YOU: I plan on doing a round of interviews with the boys in the next week. What questions would you like me to ask each of the boys (or target your question for one or the other)?

Ask them about their favorite tv shows or movies currently, or maybe what they think is going on in the world around them today. Interesting in the future, I think, to get their perspective on "current events"...

What a great idea, by the way!

Calvin would probably bring up the election. He's very interested in (and has questioned many people on their choice in) the presidential election. Calvin proudly announces to everyone that he and I want Obama to win because he helped me vote in the primary.

something along the lines of how the feel about santa claus contracting out appearances to banded and authorized 'santa's helpers'

i know that when i was a child noticed they different from place to place. somehow it seems like it could be fun to get an opinion from a kid.

We've told the boys that Santa Claus used to be a real person, but people have made him into a great story. So, some people like to pretend he's real and other people like to pretend that they are Santa Claus.

JD and I aren't into the imaginary stuff like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and such. We've found, with Calvin, that while he knows that Santa isn't really going to come into the house, he enjoys pretending with everyone else (but will often say before or after Santa conversations that he knows Santa isn't real).

i like the current events idea a lot...

also, maybe if they could be one animal for a day, what would they be?

My prediction

Calvin - komodo dragon or some kind of dinosaur
Nigel - He LOVES pretending to be a puppy. When at my parents' house, he will pretend he's one of their puppies and play in the pin, go into the cages, and roll around with the doggie toys. If/When Max or Ruby get fleas, Nigel will have them too.

Calvin loves fat people

Calvin gets fixated on big people. While he will exclaim amazement at bodybuilders and athletes, Calvin really thinks that fat people are really powerful. His eyes will light up and he'll start telling JD or I about how "He/She is FAT. I bet he/she can do anything!"

If I ask him about big butts, I'm half convinced he'll talk about how that person could probably do really powerful farts.

OH, this is gonna be good! :) Who is God? Where do babies come from? What is love? What happens when Mommy gets sick? What happens when Daddy gets sick? There should be some interesting answers with those questions....

Nessa

Calvin could probably teach everyone something they didn't know about from where babies come

Calvin wanted to know whatever we were willing to tell him after we announced JD was pregnant with Harper. He knows that a man somehow puts a seed into the woman's body. I think he knows the "seed" is put in the woman's vagina, but I don't think he knows that the penis is involved. Everything after conception he knows very well. Some parts vaguely and some aspects in a lot of detail. If you were to test Calvin and I, it wouldn't surprise me if we scored nearly the same (granted, I've never been good with biology/physiology).
