I was negative for strep. The doc said my throat is really red and inflamed. I have a antibiotic prescription filled with a generic for Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium tablet).

Otherwise, he didn't know what my problem is. He told me not to be shy to come back if things get worse or drags on.

When I picked up my prescription, the pharmacist warned me to ensure I had a good bit of food on my stomach before taking the pill (twice daily w/ food). She said that she gets more complaints with this medicine because people don't get enough food. "It's really effective medicine, but don't take the food caution lightly" she said as I left.

Thankfully, my fil took me (since preschool is done and the house is now full with kids 24/7) and we stopped by Hardee's to fill my tummy.

My favorite treatment for the throat this weekend has been to drink kefir (http://www.lifeway.net/product/kefir.php) (probiotic yogurt smoothie, basically). JD and I also only use sweet acidophilus milk. If that isn't enough, JD just plopped a container of "Acidophilus XTRA" in front of me.

While I have been eating some, after a while it agitates my throat enough to make me lose my appetite; so I'm eating about a third of what I might typically eat when I eat. Add that to the meal warning and I get a bit paranoid about heeding the pharmacist's advice without inducing vomiting from forcing food down my throat.
