Throughout my childhood, "underwear" was briefs. If you were a little kid, then Underoos were the exception to the "tighty-whiteys" that are worn by older boys and men. During high school, I find out one of my friends had a whole rainbow of solid colored underwear. I thought it somehow... removed enough from practicality to make me feel colored underwear was extravagant. I was a teenage boy. The only people that saw my underwear was my family. What did I care what color my underwear was?

Then I start rounding the bases with girlfriends and the allure of Marky Mark's underwear ads converted me to Calvin Klein boxer-briefs. By college, nearly all the white underwear was gone. Although I dabbled with boxers, that was too much freedom for my undercarriage to wear on a daily basis.

In prep for the vasectomy, I was told to purchase a jock strap and some briefs because boxers and boxer-briefs were off limits for a while afterward. JD bought me a 5-pack of Hanes tagless briefs. After a week of wearing these things I will say that they are far more comfortable than the briefs I used to wear. Jersey covers the waist elastic band, it's cut nicely, and the lack of a tag (dangling or not) is nice. However, while too much freedom below can lead to things getting squeezed, twisted, or pulled during shifting/walking; I'm reminded that briefs have their moments of squeezing, too.

lol Tag this one TMI. Funny, but. . .

It's amuzing to me to watch my boys argue over underwear designs. The only one with a real preference is Sean, who insists on boxers. Probably a Dad thing. I make an effort to buy different styles so that I know which nasty pile goes with which boy.

When I was a kid, there were exactly two choices of underwear -- briefs and boxers. Most kids wore briefs and many men wore boxers. When I was in high school, most guys wore white briefs and a few wore boxers. Boxer-briefs are a fairly new thing and many guys wear them, but I'd say most guys wear boxers, unlike when I was younger. Few guys wear plain briefs any more. The teenage peer pressure thing that started back around 1997 caused briefs to fall out of favor, but it did create the need for something in-between for guys who still wanted snug underwear. In the 1980s, there were nylon bikini-style briefs that were available for a while, but those are extremely hard to find now.

Would you be referring to my "cow teddy?" :) Those have been replaced by a solitary pair of sage satin boxers.

Hmmmmm...wild and crazy summer nights? These would differ from my wild n crazy spring/fall/winter nights how? ;)
