My dad came over this afternoon and we fell the worst of my three backyard pines. This one has been loudly creaking when we get strong winds from the west. Calvin and Nigel got to watch while we lassoed the tree, I pulled the rope from the n'bor's yard, and my dad took the chainsaw to the trunk. The 70ish foot tall tree fell nearly where I wanted for it to go. It missed everything I needed it to miss, so I was happy. It didn't take long for Dad and I to chop up the trunk and much of the limbs since we were each attacking the tree carcass with a chainsaw. What took FOREVER was moving all of it to the curb for trash pickup on Tuesday.

I have scratches all over my hands, arms, and a bit on my neck and face. I managed to get a bit of bad rope burn on one finger. My work gloves kept snagging onto my weight when trying to lasso the tree, so I slipped the gloves off for easier grip. Unfortunately, about 3 throws later (hey, I had a lot of other tree branches to throw through) one of my fingers must have hooked the rope a bit as I released the weight. The rope tore up about a dime sized (area and thickness) section of skin and it still stings a bit. I also have a few cuts that are very similar to paper cuts. My muscles ache, my skin stings, and I'm this -><- close to duct taping Nigel into his bed.

Actually, I think I'm going to leave him be for a little while and either pour myself a glass of chardonnay or a white russian and start watching the race at Bristol. Yes, I sometimes drink wine with NASCAR! Of course, I would never do that at the track...unless I had it stashed in some jumbo cans of Bud or something.

Yes, hauling the stuff around front is the hardest part. You're beat from all the other work, then you have the most laborious portion still to be done.

I updated some of my custom groups today. One to which you were added may be of some interest. It is my "autobio" group. There are some "in-depth" posts about my life. I plan on filling that tag/group with posts analyzing different aspects of my life. I've already done a "My Love Life" where I discuss all my loves. I'm also working/intending to write others such as "My Drug Life," "My Music Life," and so on and so forth. Try the autobio tag in my journal to see the past ones.
