JD has possession of Harry Potter first. I actually went to the theater today during JD's class to catch up with her by seeing HP:OotP earlier today. She's in the kitchen with the book propped up on the counter while she fixes some eggplant parmigiana with some of the bounty from our garden.

We made the switch to satellite on Thursday. Comcast fucked with us one time too many. They hit us where it counts...they moved Noggin (commercial-free, 90% educational, shows for preschoolers) from basic to the digital package. While there are some great shows elsewhere (Peep on TLC w/ Joan Cusack and Curious George on PBS w/ William H Macy are the exceptions for the mind-sucking crap that dominates the other "children" channels.
I'm not happy about losing use of at least one of my two Tivos. The Series 2 is probably going to be given to someone that wants it. It's wouldn't be "free" in that the recipient would have to subscribe to Tivo for programming. The Series 1 (with the lifetime membership attached) is going into Monkey's bedroom/JD's office and I'm going to see if I can get it to work nicely with the satellite receiver. The Tivo didn't always get along with the digital boxes we had in Dallas so there's a chance I may be getting rid of both. I think either my parents or my brother are at the top of the list before going to friends since the in-laws also made the switch to Dish with us (fil wanted more HD choices). I'll keep any interested parties here updated if either or both become available.

Took the boys to see a model airplane show down at the RC airfield by the old airport this morning. We saw about 20 quarter-scale airplanes. There were folks from TN and GA that I saw with a good variety of designs - bi- and tri-planes, experimental designs, and detailed replicas. The gusty winds caused some problems. One plane hit a gust of headwind while trying to land. It suddenly stopped still, wobbled, and nosed-down the last 10 feet to the ground. One wheel broke off and bounced away. While the boys had a snack picnic in the back of the in-law's pickup, four planes swirled around above and around us.
