Wow, what a summer storm!

About 30 minutes ago I heard what sounded like an 18-wheeler being dropped from 50 feet. Soon I realized it was thunder. Despite the partly cloudy skies, it sounded like lightning was striking less than a mile away. Just a few minutes ago the rain started. It was dumping down (probably more accurate to call it being blown sideways) and I could barely see a block away from my office window.
I hope we can suck more than just a few drops from the storm before it moves on or fades away. I've watered the front yard a few times this year, but the back isn't getting any lovin (gimme a break, it's still mostly weeds back there) and is looking rather sad since many of the weeds have died from the drought. The Bermuda growing back there is still alive but could use a couple of showers to spur a growth spurt.
