What is your favorite...

song that shares the same name as the artist that sings it?

I put They Might Be Giants' album Flood in the car the other day for Calvin and Nigel's enjoyment. While it isn't my favorite song on the album, I do like the song "They Might Be Giants." When I thought about the category the other day, the top contenders that came to mind also included Bad Company's "Bad Company" and Porno For Pyros' "Porno for Pyros."

What do you think?

Thanks for the link or I'd have been hosed.

My favorite is probably They Might be Giants. Following closely would be Rammsetin.

It's really rather too bad that Concrete Blonde never had a self-named song, hm?

There was a band from North Carolina I loved as a teenager named Sex Police. Their song "Sex Police" was pretty good.

I think the another question here is: What bands SHOULD do a song with their name? :)

Oh, wow! I haven't heard anyone mention the Sex Police in years! I played a couple of their albums at the college radio station at Bama.

I think Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet would make a good song. I could see ABBA having an "ABBA" song that might sound something like ONJohn's "Xanadu."

I forgot how much metal music cornered that category of song title until I rummaged through the list. Sentimental favorites would probably be "Minor Threat" and "Angel Witch" (I see you cringing !!!).

My brother and I were commenting recently on the marketing of song titles which also appear as album titles, though not at the same time. Def Leppard's "On through the Night" was on High and Dry, while Queen's "Shear Heart Attack" was on News of the World, I believe. The only other example I can think of is the Descendents had a song called "Mass Nerder" on their last album that is also the name off an ALL album.

I'm definitely not cringing at Minor Threat, though I must claim ignorance of Angel Witch.

Having no frame of reference to Angel Witch is probably for the best. I completely forgot "Descendents" by the Descendents. That would be a favorite. Belle and Sebastian's "Belle and Sebastian" is also good.
