* There is no better character in science fiction than Q in ST:TNG (et al). The backstory, the abilities, the personality, the acting, the writing: they all come together into endless possibilities.

* The best support character with endless possibilities currently on TV is...

Kenneth from 30 Rock. Think of any trait and it is nearly possible to add any to this character without jeopardizing the belief of the watcher. I can believe him making doilies with a group of "blue-hairs" or having a secret life as a Hell's Angel.

* It is such a pleasant surprise when I stumble upon some email sex while doing ham/spam. I come across emails which are part of a 8+ series of replies that typically start off very pedestrian and then goes NAUGHTY! Those are the hardest emails not to read after discerning whether they are ham or spam.

* I can't seem to keep my toes or fingers warm today.

I remember a couple of months ago when Spike introduced Voyager, and I offically made it my second to least favorite Star Trek series. I think my bias was mainly due to lack of seeing any episodes. One I really enjoyed involved Q and another Q seeking aslyum on Voyager because he wanted to kill himself and the Continuum was prepared to lock him away for eternity before that could happen. The episode played on the whole Hegel vs. Neitzsche thing and was done rather intelligently, I felt.

I saw one Voyager recently with Ed Begley, Jr. and Sarah Silverman that just made me laugh. It also turns out King Hussein of Jordan was on an episode....

The son promply demands bath at 7:30 every night, so I have yet to partake of the fullness of the Office. What I've seen seems brilliant.

Heh...

Part of my routine lately is to do ham/spam work on my laptop while I have ST:V playing in the background (set a season pass on my Tivo for the Spike reruns). The episodes you mention are fresh in my mind. Since I tend to stockpile a few episodes before watching in a mini-marathon, I watched the two-parter with Begley and Silverman just the other day. Begley can be so painful to watch acting sometimes, but it was nice to see Silverman - especially after the recent release of her show on Comedy Central (pretty much the best parts of her humor packed into a 30 minute sitcom-esque show).

Kenneth from 30 Rock recently replaced Dwight Schrute from The Office as my favorite enigmatic support character. The writers are filling out Dwight's character more this season and I think it is adding nice depth without removing the quirks that make him such an outlandish character. If you have broadband, you really should watch the webisodes NBC has on The Office's website (http://www.nbc.com/The_Office/).
