I've been spammed on LJ

Maybe I'm the last one of my friends for this to happen to, but I got a spam comment yesterday on my home improvement post. Some institute from Singapore wanted me to fill out a survey.

The folks in LJ need to do something to make finding their official communities a bit easier. It took me forever this morning to find LJ Abuse community, read up what I'm supposed to do to file a complaint, and only because I was now in an adventurous mood, I searched further in the FAQ to find out how to mark comments as spam.

*sigh*

But compare this one piece of spam over the course of 5+ years I've been on LJ and I'll take that over what I've heard/read/seen on MySpace, et al.

I don't think I've had one spam comment left in my journal over the entire period I've been on, but it disappeared before I logged in and saw it. What happens more often is I'll be friended by some ID that friends everyone, but those tend to get deleted within a few hours too.

It was really weird...

I hop on the computer this morning and check my email and there's an anonymous comment spam. I keep anonymous comments as screened, so it didn't show up in my comments for others to see. So I do have the satisfaction of not spreading the spam. It was nice to discover that LJ has added a feature that when you delete a comment, a window pops up asking if the deleted comment is spam.

Nice to know now.
