I readily admit I have a drinking problem: I don't drink enough water.

After drinking gallons upon gallons of juice as a child and averaged 2-3 liters of Mtn Dew/day in college; I struggle to get myself to drink enough fluids. My primary hurdle is my dislike of water. I must add lemon juice to a glass in order for me to drink more than a few swigs.

I realized last night that the only thing I drank yesterday were two cans of Caff-Free Mtn Dew (I guess the milk in my cereal doesn't quite count). I woke up with a dehydration headache and my lips have been quite parched.

But have I had anything to drink today? Nope (I guess the milk in my cereal doesn't quite count).

Twice I've gone to the kitchen to get a glass of water and both times found myself distracted into doing something else while there (laundry and dirty dishes).

Even now, I'm typing this instead of going to the kitchen.

Okay...that does it.

Yeah, it is.

I have restless leg syndrome (http://www.rls.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?&pid=200&srcid=184) and the caffeine makes the problem much worse. Ever try to sit next to someone with legs that bounce with the ferocity of jackhammers? The condition runs on my mom's side of the family. We have to sit me, one of my aunts, and her son at separate locations around the dinner table at holidays because if we sit next to each other, our bouncing legs will occasionally get in synch and amplify the vibration.

As I mentioned in my original post, I had a 2-3 liter Mtn Dew a day diet during college and shortly thereafter. There is no hyperbole in this statement either. I bought a 1 liter in the morning, one in the evening, and sometimes one at night. I now realize that my amateur prescription for medical marijuana during those years helped me get to sleep.

I tried Caff-free Mtn Dew a few years ago and was extremely pleased to discover little, if any, taste difference. I will still have a can of old school Dew, but try not to drink it after lunch. Every now and then I'll get stuck with the old school Dew later in the day and will HAVE to take Legatrin or something that night to keep my legs from twitching all night long.
