Child-free Weekend In Nashville

JD notified me that I was to leave the house one Friday afternoon and not to return until the following Sunday after the kids went to bed. I'm overdue for time away from the kiddies. I've contacted my brother in Nashville and am starting to work on plans for going up there Nov 13-15th.

He has season tix to the Predators and tix to the Titans/Bills game on the 15th. I definitely want to see the Titans play. I haven't seen an NFL game in person since catching a Chiefs game at Arrowhead in the late 80's. It's a shame that the Titans are sucking big time this season...but that may just further my memories of seeing the Chiefs play. I'm open but am iffy about going to see the Preds/Canadiens play Sat night around 7pm and then seeing the Titans the following morning (noonish kickoff).

I'm going to hit Qdoba while I'm there and may also swing by Noshville and La Hacienda. It is going to be hard for me to be in Nashville and NOT stop by Phonoluxe. I'm also thinking that it is likely I'll walk to the Arcade Smoke Shop since it is only a few blocks from where my brother is living. The last cigar I had was four years ago. I occasionally miss the times I would spend the day walking around downtown, walk into the smoke shop, buy a cigar, and sit upstairs to enjoy my purchase.

While, I'm not getting my hopes up, both Mike and I will be keeping our eyes out on the concert calendars in hopes of having fantastic timing to see a band I like.

Sometimes you can't rescue Hamburger Helper

JD threw together the Cheesy Hashbrowns Hamburger Helper the other night when in a time crunch. We weren't expecting something really yummy. The dish was good enough that we ate our servings. For whatever reason, JD actually put away leftovers. This morning I grabbed one of those leftovers and popped the container open. I sprinkled ample amounts of cumin, Cholula hot sauce, and some salsa. When I got to the office, I had it as my brunch today. While still not a dish I would want to make again, it was definitely better than what it tasted like the other night! And, I did manage to eat all of what was in the container.

I do, however, LOVE the Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Chicken Helper...after adding cans of drained black beans and corn. I even enjoy eating that wrapped up in a tortilla!

Yet again, tonight I had parents of a scout express shock and disbelief that I'm not 17 or 18 years old. I think the mom's surprise with my age may explain why she looked disturbed when I was sharing stories with another adult leader about being carded when buying alcohol.
