God nor my genes blessed me with the gift of growing facial hair. I've fantasized through the years having a good ole "Grizzly Adams" beard. Nice, full, and rounded. Where I do grow facial hair, it grows in a rainbow of colors (black, white, blonde, brown, red). Although not a big fan of facial hair, when I grow it, JD loves to pick through it looking at all the different colors (like fall colors on my face!).

I'm just grateful I'm more blessed than my brother. Last time I checked, if it wasn't sideburns or chin beard, you could probably only count two dozen hairs on his face after a month of not shaving.

My primary problem is that I have strategically placed sparse/bald spots:
1. middle of where sideburns would grow = no sideburns > an inch
2. edges of the mouth = prevents from my connecting the mustache to other sections for a Van Dyke, walrus, whatever
3. sides of my chin = I can grow a goatee, but impossible to connect with sideburns/porkchops to make a beard
Add to those a general thinness of growth.

Since I was only a baby in the 70's I've done NOTHING to explore my mustache. I've sported a variety of goatees in the past decade - depending on my shaving tendencies at the time and boredom. Usually, fall would arrive and I'd get lazy on the shaving and let my chin hair grow. There was one time during the early 00's that I grew out my chin hair over an inch. It looked like a short version of the Egyptian chin beard that grew straight down in a rectangular shape.

I actually really enjoyed wearing soul patches through the years (most notably during my time in Dallas and after). The contemplative tick of pinch-stroking the soul patch was quite a joy. It was very easy to trim.
