My political wish
Sep. 16th, 2008 07:45 amIn 1992, Clinton won a three-way race for the presidency. He went to the White House with less than 50% of the popular vote because of the trio of contenders. I found myself in a world where folks had "Don't blame me, I voted for Bush" bumper stickers and Rush starts counting..."Day 34: America Held Hostage," etc. But after 4 years, the GOP can't muster a good enough candidate and the votes needed to unseat the "improper incumbent."
In 2000, ...well, we all know this well. Bush is also considered an illegitimate president because of Florida and the involvement of the Supreme Court. And, yet, after 4 years, the Dems can't muster a good enough candidate and the votes needed to unseat the "improper incumbent."
In 2008, I pray that WHOMEVER wins...it is a decisive win. It can be close, but I want a person to go into the White House with enough of a lead that most of the supporters of the loser go, "THAT SUCKS, but he won."
