The Battle for 4949 Swiss
Aug. 31st, 2006 07:26 pmI decided to pop onto the Dallas Morning News website this evening to feed the brain. I stumble upon a series they have posted about elder abuse. Sexy story, right? Actually, it is a bit. From what I've read so far of the series, the articles read like Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil or a Tennessee Williams play.
The drama is played out by eccentric characters with big hearts being manipulated by demented, obsessive bad guys in sheep's clothing.
This story also touches me a bit because I lived only blocks away from this mansion the first year I was in Dallas. JD used to walk up and down Swiss for exercise while preggers with Calvin. It is a road filled with these early 20th century mansions. Some were well cared for or extensively preserved/renovated, while others showed their age and the change to East Dallas since these buildings were constructed (the area is majority Hispanic now).
