Improving Music on VH1
Feb. 12th, 2006 08:46 amI have to say that VH1 has been playing a lot a great videos. I know that some of these songs are old-ish, but I'm grateful to supplement the meager music selection I get from local radio with:
Fiest - "Mushaboom" (Bjork meets Alanis?)
Fiona Apple - "Not About Love" (gotta find out who the guy in the video is)
The Strokes - "Juicy Juice," I mean, "Juicebox"
Jack Johnson - "Upside Down" (mostly because it's harmless, feel-good music with a video Calvin loves)
Morningwood - "Nth Degree" (Cheesy? Yes. One hit wonder? Likely. A nice novelty song I'll hate in a month or two? Yes.)
KT Tunstall - "Black Horse & the Cherry Tree" (Q107 has been playing this for a while - reminds me of 70's Bonnie Raitt and Joan Osborne)
White Stripes - "The Denial Twist"
Gorillaz - "Dare"
Matisyahu - "King Without a Crown" (after I got over the novelty of his Hassidic dancehall rap, I was able to really enjoy his rhythmic style and lyrics - yeah, and I usually pay NO attention to lyrics)
John Mayer Trio - "Who Did You Think I Was" (Listening to Jimi much lately, John? - Nonetheless, makes me respect him tons more than his previous material)
The Bravery - "Honest Mistake" Is it just me or does the chorus sound like "Girls on Film"-era Duran Duran?
