I must knock on wood first. *pummels top of desk*

As things are want to do this time of year, the AC has been running A LOT lately. So, when JD walks into the kitchen to see water dripping from a light fixture, I immediately start going through my troubleshooting steps and pray that a call to an AC guy is not in order (especially since I bet it would take 48+ hours to have someone come and then charge me a couple thousand dollars I don't have). After much digging around in the 100+ degree attic at 4pm, I discovered the source of the leak and why it was coming through the ceiling. Don't you know that the unit in the attic had been pushed/slid a couple of inches. This resulted in the condensation missing the catch pan and landing on a support beam instead. The water then flowed down the beam, along the drywall, and then followed gravity through the hole made for the light fixture.

Thank God that the unit was really light and the fix merely required that I shift the unit two inches to get it centered over the pan again. It seems that when the AC guy replaced the coils at the end of last season, his work on one side resulted in the unit being pushed a couple of inches in the opposite direction. I am a lil worried if the unit has been leaking and finally we saw the drip OR if the leak/drip is a new development. Yesterday morning I checked the pan and there was a little water in there but not enough to concern me at all since the bulk of the pan was dry and dusty as usual.

Ah, the joys of home ownership!
