Oct. 28th, 2002 08:03 pmWell, JD and I have successfully moved into our new duplex. No more 10 ft. ceilings and the floors aren't freezing. No more loud music and cars pulling up honking their horns next door. There's a little less room, no DSL for -at least 6 weeks-, and there is a shortage of grounded electrical plugs. BUT it is walking distance to a light rail station, Kroger, and restaurants that we would actually eat at often (numerous restaurants by the last place, but most were dinner only or a bit expensive to eat at more than once a paycheck). I think we'll be able to live here longer than the year lease that we signed.
The lack of DSL is undoubtedly the most painful thing to me. It's like having a black man, you can't go back to anything else after that...not that I know from personal experience...not that there's anything wrong with that! :) Southwestern Bell needs to get things sped up and get that new central station finalized!
Gotta take this moment to say a crass, yet honest, thing. Thank goodness for the sniper story for the past few weeks. It shot a jolt of new and interesting discussions on the shows and I am going to miss the constant developments of this past week and the excitement of the unfolding story. It was great for talk radio. My prayers do go out to those that died and am grateful that more weren't shot. I would have been just as happy if the whole story just involved injuries from the shots. Like I said, these are crass statements, but as a talk radio producer, it's the truth.

Date: 2002-10-28 08:43 pm (UTC)Maybe a radio bit for the next week could be providing URLs for good online voter guides for both right- and left-leaning individuals? I can't find a damned one up here, so, while I know who I'm voting for for Governor, I've got no fucking clue who I'm voting for in any other category.
Mm. Maybe that's too textual for radio. Mmf.
