I don't get too excited about war. Think about it: At every period in history, there has always been wars of every kind and wars are horrible and scary, but they are natural. Have you seen the kinds of stuff insects do to each other in war? It's terrifying. Yes, it's sad and stuff, but I just don't let it erk me. It's always going to happen.

It's not the war that troubles me, it's troop morale.

Part of the Pentagon line since the 80's was that 'Nam was so demoralized because of the forced enlistment from the draft. Supposedly the all-volunteer army would increase the morale level and prevent the rogue actions that were prevalent in that war...I mean, police action.

First there was Abu Garib prison, but that could be explained by improper policy handed down the chain of command. But each week or two there seems to be another story coming out of excessive aggression on the part of our troops in Iraq. Those actions during military operations also must be seen through the eyes of soldiers trying to do their job. But stories like the one I linked to is purely the act of soldiers acting out.

Yes, I understand, but that stuff just happens as well. Troop morale fails, people do crazy things, and sick things, in war.

I don't know, maybe it's just me...I just kind of expect that stuff to happen. It's all human nature.
