Apr. 3rd, 2006 12:46 pm1. I stumbled on Xponential Radio late last week after having some problems with KFOG's stream. Xponential is NPR's AAA (Album Adult Alternative) network that they are promoting as a secondary signal for public radio stations to put on the air/internet as they upgrade to digital broadcasts. I miss DJs but really enjoy the music more than a lot of other AAA outlets online.
I use this stream from Western Illinois University. Click the "Tri States Public Radio, Too" link for audio.
2. The new Doctor Who on Sci-Fi Channel. I can't say that I've watched more than an hours worth of Doctor Who in my life. I'm one of those superficial sci-fi people that can't keep his attention on a show with cheap effects. I never could get into the original series running on PBS stations and still rarely watch any ST:TNG eps before Riker got a beard because of this sci-fi prejudice of mine.
I have nothing but love for the new series. I missed "Rose" but have seen the episodes that Sci-Fi has shown since. This also lead me to spending about 3 hours on Wikipedia the other night reading up on Doctor Who, the history of the characters, show, and such. So,
outherelistenin and I have something new we can discuss in LJ!
3. Wikipedia - I've used it occasionally through the years, but I've never considered it the most reliable source of correct information. After one of its articles came up in a Google search I did the other night, I've been bouncing around the site in a steam-of-consciousness/links manner. Put in one subject and follow links through the day as my "background fun" while taking breaks from working. I still take everything I read on the site with a grain of salt, though.
4. Crazy Bread and Crazy Sauce have snuck back into my diet. Little Caesars just opened in the n'hood. I hadn't eaten their food since high school but had to buy some crazy bread a couple of weeks ago to see if it was as good as I remembered. Yep. About a dozen orders of crazy bread later...*burp*
5. Prep H wipes with witch hazel - OH the cool comfort and sanitary rubbing of my recently itchy rear!!!

P.S. - "Poo Poo Slot" is thanks to an adult Scout leader I had on my first summer camp. The scouts were lackluster in cleaning up the outhouse in our camp. The adult lectured us that he wanted it clean enough that he was no longer worried about "spiders trying to crawl up my poo poo slot."

Date: 2006-04-03 08:08 pm (UTC)Nowadays when I want to feed my Crazy Cheese addiction, I go get a tub of the Philly with Onions and Chives and an order of Cheese Bread.
*sigh* Carb heaven.
oh oh oh!
Date: 2006-04-07 10:22 pm (UTC)'Manda and I were discussing how we used to battle our sleepiness to stay awake to watch Dr. Who. We weren't bothered by the effects. You need to watch the episodes with Tom Baker. Awesome actor.
When I discovered Sci-Fi was airing a new installment of Who I bugged Ex #1 into downlaoding them for me. I'm still waiting for him to burn them so I have it on dvd. Damn. The hazards of being parsimonious. Sure would like to induldge my inner nerd and get cable and TiVo. Bah!
I even admit to being a Star Trek junkie. ST:TNG, DS9, and Voyager. Have to admit that I haven't seen Enterprise. Again, too stinkin' cheap.
Little Ceasars: YUM! We probably eat it once a week. Cheap, fast, Sean likes to do the leg-work. Three little boys. Two pizzas. Gone! And now we h ave to get two Crazy Bread's because Sean will eat one all by himself.
When/if we get around to loosening the purse strings some I'll have to remember to invite you over to pizza and the Doctor.

Date: 2006-04-09 12:57 pm (UTC)Re: Trek - Gimme the ST:TNG once Riker has a beard, DS9 did nothing for me, and I like most of Voyager but don't think they hit their stride until near the end of the second season. I liked Enterprise for the most part. Despite the alien Nazi arch at the beginning of the final season, I feel it was canceled before its time.
