Nov. 27th, 2005 08:50 pmSomehow made it through the post-T-giving-holiday travel circus today and was only 1/2 an hour later than scheduled. Low ceilings and high traffic backed things up in Charlotte and BWI. I also had the great privilege of being the monkey in the middle of a family returning from a vacation in the Caribbean. Add in the fact that the parents spent much of the time bickering with each other... *sigh*
Tonight I dined at a Chevy's for the first and last time. We wanted something to eat before getting to the hotel and Chevy's was just a block away. I'm guessing that the odd tasting salsa, broccoli-flavored chili con queso, and nasty smoked chipotle chicken enchiladas would be as nasty at any other restaurant in the chain. I no longer have any need to dine again at a Chevy's. BLAH!
Need to spend the next hour reviewing the participant list for tomorrow's class and try to soothe myself to sleep for a full night of rest.

Date: 2005-11-28 11:11 pm (UTC)As far as places to eat in Dallas - I can easily come up with an itinerary focused solely on eating.
1. Truluck's (http://www.trulucks.com/dallas_location.asp) - I will go there just for the sake of ordering their cream of poblano pepper soup. I wish they offered FedEx ordering; I'd buy the soup by the bucket.
2. Taco Y Mas (at the bottom of Lower Greenville at the intersection of Greenville and Ross) - the best tacos in town are at this tiny walk-up taco stand!
3. Pietro's (http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&hs=VkW&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=pietro%27s&near=Dallas,+TX&sa=X&oi=locald&radius=0.0&latlng=32783333,-96800000,2629544415077195855) (also in Lower Greenville) - Fantastic, Italian family restaurant that's a block from the first place I lived in Dallas. The price isn't cheap, but I'll gladly pay it over any trip to the Olive Garden.
4. Bread Winners (http://www.breadwinnerscafe.com/) - THE BEST PLACE FOR BREAKFAST! This superb bakery and restaurant is at the top of my wife's list.
5. All chain restaurants that I miss: Roly Poly wraps, California Pizza Kitchen, PF Chang's, and the Cheesecake Factory immediately come to mind.
