Rehnquist Dead

Alright, who will Bush nominate to replace Rehnquist for Chief Justice? He has professed his love for Scalia on numerous occasions. Would he try to make a mark on history by nominating Clarence Thomas?

Liberals do need to take a moment to be thankful that it was Rehnquist who died and not Souter, Breyer, Ginsburg, or Stevens. This way it is merely the moderate, O'Connor, that Bush gets to replace with a conservative. Roberts doesn't seem as conservative as Rehnquist, will Bush's second nominee be more to the liking of the Right?

I'm shocked that he's gone. I mean, what have we heard since the incident in July where he was taken to the hospital? Granted, I've been in sort of a cave newswise since late July. But wow.

He's shied from the cameras so I'm not surprised that it was out-of-nowhere, but considering how he looked in the few appearances this spring and summer...
