It's safe to guiltlessly bash me because I'm an empty-headed bitch and the national media is my pimp!

That is it folks. I hope that the national press will finally move on to their next news cause. You have wrung the "missing white woman" stories all you can. Have there been enough hoaxes yet? Why the hell has the public been subjected to these stories? How was this missing woman news? Why was Laci Peterson news? Stop getting your jollies by lamenting unfortunate events to attractive, white women!

I guess this is just part of the evolution from the Jon Benet era that led to such missing, cute, white girls such as Elizabeth Smart. Wasn't a lesson learned from that dim-witted college student that claimed to be kidnapped (up in Wisconsin?)?

It is these tabloid stories that have always made me bristle with disgust. I understand celebrity news, but the Laci Peterson, Jon Benet, Elian Gonzales crap is pointless to me. With everything that's going on in the world, CNN and CNN Headline news has focused the bulk of their time to this story. Why the fuck is that story more important than the whole barrage of stupid statements and hypotheticals that Bush talked about on Thursday night? or the war in Iraq? or Putin's promise to help train Palestinian security forces?
OOOOOHHHHHH, they're not sexy! Guys don't get a semi-chub and women aren't getting a soap opera fix during the news if it's about things that our children might get tested on in history class.

Grrrrrrrr...

Agreed.

A separate news channel for celebrity news & "human interest" stories would be nice. Why is this on CNN?

Last evening I flip by CNN and they are doing a recap of the story. They spent over five minutes replaying footage from the initial report on Tuesday, the searching from Wed-Fri, the news she was found, the bogus kidnapping story, and then finally the statement that she had just runaway to Vegas and had some issues of which her family was unaware. I expected Kenny Roger's "Through the Years" to be playing in the background. CNN was playing the clips and commented like this whole thing was a warm, uplifting story. To finish it off, the "reporter" asked people to email CNN on whether her fiance should take her back!

Oh yes, CNN is SOOOOOOO much more credible than Fox. They are both as credible as the Weekly World News.
