My second wife...

Called up the boss a little while ago for our morning check-up (she tends to work in her home office 95% of the time). We're wrapping things up on the phone...

K: I'll call you later if I hear anything.
Cory: Okay, later.
K: (quickly and all run together) Talk to you later, love you.
Cory: Uh.
K: *giggling*
Cory: I love you, too, Kathryn.
K: Oh, leave me alone! *giggling and hangs up*

I've unconsciously switched the names of my wife and bosses before (yep, I called her "Darrell" a few times through the years) but I've never accidentally told my boss or coworkers that I loved them.

Wow ... I've had jobs I loved, but NEVER a boss I loved. Gee you're lucky!

I've heard of people being married to their jobs, but this takes it.

At least it seems like it wasn't too awkward, so that you can just laugh about it.

The "love you" rolled right off her tongue. There is no doubt in my mind that it was a complete brainfart of her momentarily confusing me with her husband...to whom she had just said goodbye before the end of our conversation. K can be very scatter-brained at times.
