Mar. 11th, 2005 09:04 pmDespite only getting 3 hours of sleep last night (stress kept me up until 3am and Calvin arose at 6:20am). I'm feeling much better than I was during my last couple of posts. They key was calling the bank to check the balance of the checking acct and discovering that the state and Uncle Sam blessed me with my refunds overnight (thanks again to the wee members of my family for their contribution).
Another indication of my improved mood (or loosening grip on sanity) happened on the way home from work this evening. I love listening to "Great Classics" Q107 out of Florence, Alabama. My favorite stations are ones that surprise me with the songs they play. Sam Phillips (the Father of Rock n Roll) gets more credit from me for starting this station than all that Elvis, Johnny Cash, Sun Records stuff. Okay, that was just a bit of hyperbole. But anyways...I'm coming home today and turn on Q107 when I hear:
Why can't you do it?
Why can't you set your monkey free?
Always giving into it -
Do you love your monkey or do you love me?
Why can't you do it
Why do I have to share my baby with a monkey?
I hated that song when George Michael sang it 15-18 years ago. But coming home, I sang every line and even danced while driving down the Parkway. I was probably quite a scary sight to behold.
