RoadKill Lives On!

For several years, I had the on-air nickname of RoadKill. I've posted pictures of me doing RK stunts previously. Thankfully, I kept many of the DAT tapes of the shows that I did these odd things.

When I moved to Huntsville, there was a chance I would try to get a job at one of the talk stations in the area or even going to Chattanooga, B'ham, or elsewhere in the area to do a less political show. Since I didn't know if I would have a need for creating an audition tape, I brought all the DATs into the in-law's house while we lived there. Last summer when we moved out. I couldn't find the DATs. Maybe I put them into the storage unit after nixing radio in the region. Nope, once the storage unit was empty the DATs still couldn't be found. Ever since last summer, I have had about one day a month that I would become fixated on the loss of the DATs and the emotional blow of losing all those memories.

This morning the mother in law calls to let us know that she found the DATs in a closet along with parts from the computer I disassembled shortly after moving into their house! I have my memories back! I am so excited.

If my neck wasn't killing me, I'd be dancing a jig.

There's a DJ up here that went by the name "Roadkill" for years, Cory. It's weird that you chose that same moniker for your radio personality. Weird, but cool.

Well, I didn't chose RoadKill. I had volunteered to take the "Danger Dog" position in the show, but we were uncertain what I should go by...so we let the listeners come up with names and they voted on their favorite. The final three options were: RoadKill, Speedbump, and Rat Boy (Gay Boy was actually third but the Program Director pulled the plug on that being in the running). I wanted RoadKill but liked Speedbump too.

It was RK in a landslide.
