I realized while we were putting Calvin down to sleep tonight that my Scout troop is having their Halloween party tomorrow night. When we were done w/ Calvin, I dug to the back of the closet for my wedding dress. Sadly, it's about 3 inches too small to wrap around my torso any more (what an unusual weight-gain indication for a man). So, I will not be a bride tomorrow night.

Me in my wedding dress in the "good ole days." (I played the part of a living mannequin one morning during the show...no reason why, really.)

Alas I haven't kept the Poison Ivy costume from a Halloween stunt in 1999...

Halloween morning I was sent out to WalMart to buy whatever costume was left that I could into which I could fit. The only adult sized item was this medium Poison Ivy outfit. (Whatever happened to the classic costumes that were basically black bags w/ designs painted on them?) I then got to stand on the side of Murfreesboro Road by Nashville's airport and have people either throw their candy at me while driving by...or the nice folks would pull over to give me candy.

Right now things are looking like I'll pull out my coveralls, smear some muck on my face, and go to Scouts as a mechanic. So much for maintaining the drag precedent I set w/ the troop as a teenager (yet another occasion my senior year that I dressed up as a Robert Palmer girl).

Dude, that's awesome! Halloween is always a good change to wear skirts or dresses. I wore a skirt, a black shirt, and a witch's hat in 1994 for Halloween.

Doing drag can be the easiest costume a guy can do and still get praise from others. Throwing a skirt or dress on and one other alteration (boobs, makeup, or wig) is all you need.

While I do have a sarong that fits the dress/skirt theme, it's not something I would wear to Scouts (especially since I wouldn't do anything to keep it on other than wrapping it around my waist...and you can't really wear boxers or shorts underneath). I've actually been thinking about finding a new home for my sarong...since I've only worn it a couple of times after receiving it as an Xmas present a few years ago.

LOL, other than that... I'm utterly speechless.

I like doing it just for the heck of it. A few months ago, I wore a skirt to a party and I'm so glad I have friends now I can do that around. For years, most of my friends were the conservative "freak out at anything strange" types.

You seem to be an exceptionally cool person, and you'e one of the few local LJers I haven't met in person yet. We should do something about that.

That goes w/o saying, but thanx! ;)

I wish that M-night wasn't on Wed nites since my troop meetings are that night. Otherwise, the whole wife and kids thing keeps my social life to a minimum.

Lunches are the best opportunity that I have for "social engagements" if that works for you. Tomorrow (Thurs) and Friday are no good, but I should be able to work something out for a day next week.
