I had been postponing my comments about the concert because I've been trying to wrangle up a set-list for you. At the concert, I tried to track them by leaving a memo on my cell phone every few songs. About 2/3 of the way thru the concert, the phone ran out of storage. It didn't really matter because I gave the memos a listen afterwards...and I couldn't understand a single word I said. Oh well. So, I've been on PixiesMusic.com and a couple of other places trying to track down someone w/ the list. No luck.

I can tell you for certain that they started with "Subbaculta" and the encore was "Planet of Sound."

Subbaculta
Vamos
Where is My Mind?
Velouria
Bone Machine
U-Mass
Gigantic
Debaser
The Holiday Song
I Bleed
Oh My Golly!
Hey
Broken Face
Tame
Ed is Dead
Palace of the Brine
In Heaven
Crackity Jones
Wave of Mutilation
The Happening
Here Comes Your Man
Nimrod's Son
Number 13 Baby
Head On
Monkey Gone to Heaven
Caribou
Planet of Sound

The Thrills opened up for The Pixies. They were okay. Half of the crowd was in line for the only concession stand that was selling beer, so the auditorium was pretty empty. The lead singer was determined to talk to the audience and praise them for their greatness.

The most obvious thing to me when The Pixies took the stage is that all of them are now shaved bald...except for Kim. She has, however, chopped her hair quite a bit. I hesitate to call it a bob cuz it's a lil bit shorter than that.

Joey's big "solo" in Vamos was a true display of fun. With a little help from a reverb/echo effect, he was able to place his guitar on a stand at the front of the stage and the looping feedback continued the music despite his momentary lack of activity. Moonwalking over the pedals was another nice touch.

If the set list didn't indicate it, the night was crammed w/ nearly every song from Doolittle played (which is great for me since that's my fav) and a good selection taken from Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa.

I thought I remembered a bit more talk w/ the audience in Nashville a dozen years ago, but Charles/Black/Frank hardly said a thing until late in the show. Every few songs, Kim would walk up to the mic after a song and chirp "Thanks" to the crowd. Later, Kim started joking w/ the guys that she didn't know what song was next and then claimed to not know the chords or key of the songs.

My only regret is that I didn't go to the other side of the hall at some point to be closer to Kim. ; )
