Hopefully this one will post since the others seemed to have disappeared into the void. :(
Went to our first Bradley birth class yesterday. I think it was the 4th time that I've ventured outside of the I-635 loop since I've moved here (excepting the malls located immediately off the loop). I think there's supposed to be 6 couples, but one was MIA yesterday. Only one of the pairs is on their 2nd child...the rest of us are rookies. We found out during the "introductions" that Linda, the teacher, is a listener to the show and she went on a 5 minute talk about what she likes about the show with the class (they aren't trashy talk and they won't put you to sleep like those newstalk guys do). This led to the inevitable discussion during snack time about what we are planning for the show on Monday, so I got to do my pitch and Q&A session at that time. Most of the couples seem to about our age. It was pretty cool. Everyone is a bit shy and Linda seemed to want more verbal replies to her questions than we gave her, but everyone seemed to be loosening up during the 2 1/2 hours in her house. I don't know how in the world I'm going to be able to do some of these relaxing exercises which I have to say sweet nothings to JD. Everyone kept getting the attacks of the giggles. I don't recover from giggles very easily...my train isn't known for taking sharp turns. No matter how hard I tried to come up w/ relaxing, cute things to say...only the silly would/could surface.
I am now falling into the radio cliche that I've avoided so far - I am on a weightloss program! Darrell and I agreed to try out Body Solutions together. I've been on it for a little over a week and I think I've lost 4 lbs. I'm not certain because I was told the scale on the 13th floor wasn't very accurate. I weigh myself at 240 a week ago and I was at 234 on Friday. Considering that I was in sandals instead of shoes and wasn't wearing a hat, I decided to temper the actual weight loss to 4 lbs instead of 6 lbs. I really don't know if I've actually lost weight... No clothes are any looser feeling or anything like that... What I can say is that I like the program. It's not that big of a deal, in my opinion (of course considering that I get all of the products for free). The hardest part is no eating for 3 hours before going to bed. The evening solution I drink before going to bed tastes good, the daytime powder that I've mixed into shakes tastes good. I especially like the vanilla mix w/ orange Gatorade. Tastes like orange cremesicle! I've been popping the vitamins at most meals (not too consistent w/ that), haven't touched the "joint solution," and wear the pedometer. The company says that I have to lose 8 lbs before I can go on the air. Their estimate was about 3 weeks. If the scale is anyway accurate, I might be able to start in a week. Would I spend money on this stuff? I dunno. I see the point of not eating for 3 hours before bed and cutting out a high fat meal and replacing it with a nutricious shake. Is there something special about Body Solutions than just doing those two things on my own? I dunno, but having the regimen of waiting 3 hours before taking the evening formula is better than the will power I had been trying to use for the past couple of months of doing the same thing. I often cheated by having a Starburst or something small during that time. Also, what helps me make it thru the 3 hours are these Vitamin B flavor sprays. I can shoot them or drink water for that 3 hour period. I love the cola and orange flavored shots. I will never touch the root beer one and rarely do the wild berry. Oh, well...I'll also get $20 per endorsement spot I do on the air, so that's not bad either.
Well, I've got dinner to get ready...
