So one of the things I did today to escape the office for an hour or two was to finally register one of my cars in AL and get a license plate to replace the over-a-year-expired TX one that has been on there (Thank God that TX doesn't have expiration stickers on the plate but on a lil sticker on the windshield).

While attaching the new plate to my car, I was approached by Denise w/ WAAY 31 TV. She was looking to do a MOS (man on the street) with me on SCOTUS taking the pledge case. This was definitely karma coming back to me. I've harassed my fair share of Joe Public for these sorts of things while in talk/news radio and so I got ready for my close up.

Now, this is where we have a lesson about media and bias. I'm a firm believer that there is no such thing as unbiased reporting. It just isn't possible. My comments on the issue were that I think "under God" is a violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment (the person saying the pledge asserts a monotheistic belief) but I could care less if it is there or not. I also said that I was grateful that SCOTUS was hearing arguments and that this is an issue that should be debated and not just rejected by the court.

If/When "Cory Berry" pops up on 31's evening news, I wonder which part of my statements will be used? Will I be the token guy that says he thinks it is unconstitutional (w/o my declaration of apathy)? The wife has set Tivo to record a couple of broadcasts to see if I make some air time.

They're only going to show a person who's against "Under God" if that person looks like a satanist college troublemaker. Because, of course, only satanist college troublemakers would want it removed from the pledge of allegiance.

I'm glad that I could just FF thru Tivo on the 4 and 5pm news. No me there. But 1 minute into the 6pm news, there I am talking about how happy I am that SCOTUS was willing to hear the case and didn't just dismiss it. The ladies after me however were concerned that all hell would break lose by dropping mentions of God. OH, and despite spelling my name to them, they still had "Corey Berry." I hate having that "e" added to my first name. Grrrrr.
