Ahhh, but don't forget one very important fact - adopted children were treated better than children that were born directly from the birthline. Technically if we go back up Matthew as well to Boaz/Ruth - Boaz was the biological "father" but the son was for Ruth's first husband and given to Naomi. So technically, he was born from Boaz, but his birthline was looked at as if he were from Obediah (? - totally don't remember his name right now and I don't have my bible right beside me and being too lazy to go to youversion.com).
But through all of that, one of the classes I was taking at Whitesburg Bible College was that when the child was adopted the child became a part of the bloodline. That child was very special. It is taken to the step that we are the adopted children of God - not His "chosen" Jewish children.
On the other hand though...I was thinking along the same thoughts just two days ago when I was reading the list again. If I'm not mistaken though, Mary's lineage is through David as well. I know I have heard that somewhere - I don't know where they got their info from.
