Shortlegs (my lil bro) and I used to record ourselves a bunch on cassette tapes as kids. I have several still that contain recordings of us doing play-by-play and interviews for pretend Olympics, calling the Indy 500 (I was really into Rick Mears as a child), and DJ'ing the music we were listening to at the time.* Calvin and Nigel have been playing with their own tapes lately recording stuff, so I thought I'd take some of my old tapes in the car with us on our drive to Point Mallard today. There was one portion of a tape from about when I was 9 and Shortlegs was 6 that had all of us laughing and rewinding over and over.

I'm going to get some of this a bit wrong, but here's a quick, messy, loose transcription of the section...

Shortlegs (using a squeaky, kinda "old lady" type voice): And now it's time for another show...

Me: It's the Cory's #1, Doug's #1, and...Cory's #1 Show! So, shut up.

Shortlegs: And Mike's #1.

Me: No, Mike is #42

Shortlegs: And Cory is number 10 million.

Me: [unclear statement]

Shortlegs: Cory is the worst...most terrible...most horrible person in the whole universe.

Me (teasingly): I'm going to play this part to Mom!

* - Listening to the tapes, I heard a very strong influence of ABC Sports/Wide World of Sports, Top40 radio, and cartoons.

Ha! I thought my sister and I were the only ones who did that kind of stuff. I wish I still had the tapes we used to make. We were a radio station, and we made fake commercials all the time. The ones we did most often were for "Big Al's Pizza - we deliver!" and "Bob Smith's Used Cars, on the corner of Ketchum and Cheatham."

We were incredibly clever children. :P

That's pretty funny. :) I hope the boys enjoyed Point Mallard...I used to go there once a year with my Girl Scout troop. It's pretty good for a small water park.
