Saw Elf last night. I'll also see it when it comes out on DVD and probably most every Xmas after that! It was a darling of a film. Definitely one that does a great job of entertaining on both ends of the age spectrum. Will Ferrell is endearing and precious. After Elf, I think it would be very interesting to see him in a remake of Big. He has a great sense of wonder and innocence that made Elf very likable. Zooey Deschanel (you might recognize her as the older sister that runs off to be a flight attendant in "Almost Famous") worked well as Will's love interest. And now I want to see her in musicals because her singing "Baby It's Cold Outside" w/ Will in the shower was better than "American Idol" quality! :) Oh, YEA! I just checked and the soundtrack has her performing that w/ Leon Redbone! Just what I need, another Xmas CD to go w/ the 30+ I accumulated via the old radio job. Thankfully, Jon Favreau was able to direct a movie not targeted to the IFC crowd and will hopefully take its place along side "A Christmas Story" on USA/TNT. I only wish that there were more scenes with Bob Newhart. Go see it...it's cute but not cutesy, it's lovely w/o being gooey, and a fun movie for a date.
